Proper Storage of Wine
Proper storage is very important to maintain the taste, aroma, and quality of wine. If wine is stored incorrectly, it can lose its flavor and freshness over time.
Whether you have a few bottles at home or a growing collection, following the right storage methods can help keep wine in the best condition.
Keep Wine at the Right Temperature
Wine should be stored at a cool and stable temperature.
Ideal Storage Temperature:
5°C to 18°C
Too much heat can damage wine, while sudden temperature changes can affect its quality.
Keep Bottles Away from Sunlight
Direct sunlight and strong light can spoil wine over time. Wine should always be stored in a dark or shaded place.
Store Bottles Horizontally
Wine bottles with corks should be stored lying down. This helps keep the cork moist and prevents air from entering the bottle at the same time this also helps avoiding the cork to crumble & break while opening with a cork screw.
Maintain Proper Humidity
Balanced humidity helps protect the cork and keeps the wine fresh.
Ideal Humidity:
50% to 70%
Avoid Vibrations
Too much movement or vibration can disturb the wine and affect its aging process. Store wine in a stable and quiet place.
Storage of Opened Wine Bottles
Once a wine bottle is opened, it should be closed tightly and stored in a cool place or wine cooler. Exposure to air slowly reduces the freshness and flavor of wine.
